The Story behind the piece:

Chris and Carol Palko were inspired by the Fair Jeanne's Story and in commemoration of the Tall Ships 1812 Tour with the First Port of Call in Brockville, Ontario, Palko Jewellery Design created this one-of-a-kind Fine Cloisonné enamel, gold and jeweled pendant.  This highly skilled technique has been used over the centuries including the making of Fabergé eggs.

The Fair Jeanne Pendant is a sensational piece depicting the ship's ocean-going perils by developing the elements of high waves, gusty clouds and billowing ship sails.

Keeping with the nautical theme, Chris Palko made the 18K gold casing to represent a weighty old world "golden treasure" with the rope edging and magnificent compass rose back.  The exquisite gems on the pendant face represent the four sons of Captain Fuller and the fine Peridot on the back of the pendant represents Captain Fuller's wife, Jeanne. 

The Fair Jeanne Story

The ship was designed and built by Captain Thomas George Fuller and the Fuller family in their backyard in Britannia-on-the-Bay, Ottawa, Ontario. The keel was laid in 1978 and she was launched in 1980. The Fair Jeanne started her life sailing as the family's private yacht. At the helm was Captain Fuller and his wife Jeanne, cruising the world's oceans and waterways for more than 10 years. 

Today, The Fair Jeanne sails for a different cause; as a sail training vessel donated to the Bytown Brigantine; a not-for-profit youth charity.  You often can see her mooring at the Tall Ships slips, Blockhouse Island, Brockville, Ontario.
